I think yu autta speak to this guy - he is wanting £5K - and no takers! Mind yu - he wont sell it at all if he doesnt put up any pics. Peeps like to see what they are buying.
Maybe thats $5,000,;):D I doubt if anyone would pay more than £2,500 for a 12 year old V8. My brother has just bought an immaculate 'S' reg 75,000m 300tdi Disco for £2,500 and I mean immaculate.

What the guys are tellin you is that things have changed and its a buyers market with rock bottom prices.

Funnily enough, I was having the same discussion with some of the TVR chaps over on Pistonheads.com last night.

Chimaeras just aren't selling. Reasonable Cerberas are now under £10'000, and even the most sought after Griffiths, (4.3bv pre-cats), are starting to dip under £10'000, and thats if there selling at all.

I was going to post the question up asking if modified LR's were having the same sought of problems, but it seems that you have answered the question for me already.

Of course, this is only a bad thing if your looking to sell. I think that the people hit the worst are your Porsche / Audi TT sort of guys. The kind who like to have a brand new motor every couple of years. I suspect that LR owners are kinda simular to most TVR owners, and tend to keep their cars for quite long periods of time? Therefore the current significant dip in the market isn't that much of a concern???

I don't think it's just a dip in the market. Large 4x4 and large cars in general values especially petrol ones, are in freefall. A lot of dealers won't even take them as trade-ins. I can't see the market recovering at all.
Good news if you want a luxury car, but you've pretty much got to write off the purchase price and cost the loss into it's running costs.
Heard on the radio that if you buy a Bentley Continental GT, depreciation is running at £4,000 a month.

Partly fueled (pardon the pun) by a huge misunderstanding about VED... Big engine = Big VED in most peoples eyes, even though that's only likely to be vehicles post April/May 2001.

You might find an enthusiast who might want it but he'll know the state of the market and will probably hold fire until you're a bit more desperate unless it's a proper bargain. It doesn't matter how much you've spent on it the market for such a vehicle is tiny and you'll be lucky to sell it at all unless it's very cheap. It's a pretty well agreed fact that a tdi is still cheaper to run than a v8 on lpg so most people opt for the diesel. Plus the longevity issue of v8 vs tdi is a no brainer really. I reckon you'll be lucky to get 1500 quid for it.

Stick the fooker on ebay, then the market will tell you what it's worth instead of asking us and getting upset at the suggestions! I would be most interested to see what the market really values it at after having read through this! (and if you advertise it and auction it well, Ebay will exceed any private sale value)

ive just sold a disco v8 with lpg no real modifications wih tax and mot for £650
even though yous is modified there is not a market for them at the moment i think the market will go back up once people realise its only newer 4x4 that are going up to £400 a year tax so if you not in a hurry to sell it id keep it for the time being

i think you'll defo sell it for 500 notes-heffalumps got em ready to go!Youll not get much more than that else where

Fact is it's worth what someone is prepared to pay for it on any given day. So sticking it on ebay is indeed the way to find out. It's also true that ebay isn't the cheapest place to buy so you might get a bit more than you otherwise would plus it will reach a very wide audience so better chance of finding a buyer. No getting away from the fact that the market has seen it's arse though.
