Carefully selected, prepared and registered for us, in Johannesburg, by specialist Land Rover garage, Landyworx (www.landy-worx.co.za), who began with a thorough, top to bottom, service and then added a comprehensive range of mechanical upgrades and overland extras including the following items: new roof lining, new radiator, new head, bigger intercooler, ‘Madman’ early warning engine monitoring device ( it keeps an eye on exhaust gas temp, oil and coolant levels, oil pressure, coolant temperature and alternator performance ), replacement silicone hoses, new diesel cooler, new PAS pump, new Bosch fuel pump motor, 16” Disco 2 mag wheels powder coated black, six new BF Goodrich K02 All Terrain tyres, 55 litre long range tank (making 130 litres total), full length roof rack, sump bash plate, Ratel heavy duty bumpers with recovery/jacking points front and rear, Ratel rock sliders/side steps, Safari snorkel, battery box and extra car battery (to run onboard Snomaster fridge freezer), DC to DC charger with solar panel connection and 12v sockets, dual piston air compressor with front and rear outlet valve, long air hose and Sealey air line tyre inflator with pressure gauge, privacy film to side and rear windows, drawer system for rear load space, hi-lift jack, recovery spade, Eezi Awn side awning, LED headlight and rear light kit, LED light bar mounted on front of roof rack, LED work light mounted to rear of roof rack, heavy duty Terrafirma rear shocks, air horn, safe. Puncturesafe fitted to five BFG tyres. Spare BFG All Terrain tyre in holder and three 'Ammo Boxes' for additional storage in waterproof case on roof rack.

The car and camping trailer are currently standing in Randburg, Johannesburg, at Landyworx premises. Re-registration and traffic register can be arranged in the buyer’s name for a small additional fee (approx £100).

As you can see from the photos the car is in exceptionally good condition: mechanically and inside and out. We have driven it approximately 8000 kms around South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. It is a comfortable car, much quieter than a Defender, but just as capable in off-road situations. It was our intention to drive from South Africa to Tanzania, but our situation has changed and this is journey is no longer possible for us. The graphics you see on the car are easily removable, although you might like to keep the matt black wrap with the outline of Africa picked out in gloss vinyl on the bonnet; which we think looks really good!

We removed the two rear, sideways facing, ‘dicky’ seats and split rear bench seats to provide more luggage space. These seats, along with the original 17” LR alloy wheels are safely in storage with Landyworx.

Also available, if required – by separate negotiation – is our Camp Tech off-road camping trailer. First registered 2009. Local registration and roadworthiness done by us 10/2016. 3 berth. 750 kgs GVW (450 kgs unladen). Built-in 65 litre fresh water tank. Spare tyre (all tyres in good condition; hardly used). Puncturesafe available for the tyres. Leaf springs and shocks suspension. 2 ring gas stove. New 7 kg gas bottle. Roof rack. New mattress. Astroturf carpeted floor space. Ground sheet. 20 litres water jerry can. 105 ah leisure battery and split charger, 230v hook up point and sockets (newly fitted by us). Tows easily. Sets up in c. 30 mins (once you’ve got the hang of it!).

This rig would suit a couple who have long dreamed of doing an overland journey in Africa, but have been put off by the logistics of buying, preparing and shipping a vehicle to Cape Town. We've done all the hard work for you - all you have to do is drive off into the sunset!
