hi all i need some help i have bought a 2003 freelander 1800 k series it starts fine with no probs but when you drive it down the road it seems very flat and guttless till it hits 3500 rpm then it seems fine it brings nothing up on the code reader so am at a loss

ive changed the following
crank sensor
map sensor
cam sensor
steppa motor
throttle body
plugs
leads
coil packs
the head gasket has been done before i bought it and ive done it since aswell and still its flat right now for some questions
1 if the cams had been fitted wrong ie inlet fitted on exhaust and vise versa would it run as i fitted them the same as they came out ??
2 is it possible to get them 180 degrees out if so would it run

if anyone has any ideas let me know even if you have had the same prob

its almost like days of old with timing advance and retard

Have you done a compression check to see if all is well?

Otherwise maybe the timing belt is out a notch causing timing issues.

compression is all good looking at cams today and checking part numbers

Check your air filter and fuel filter but I would make sure the timing marks align correctly on the exhaust and inlet cam wheels and at the crank sprocket.

Scroll about half way down this page to see the correct timing positions and further on for the locating peg positions

thanks for the link and air filter is new and fuel filter is lifetime jobby had cams out fitted new tappits checked timing marks and cam positions and all 100% and still the same grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr im at a loss now

well i put a second hand fuel pressure regulator on it and seemed to be fine so got a new one and its gone back to how it was:frusty::frusty:

I am currently experiencing the same issue - feels like it's hesitating as if it's not advancing and at higher revs it takes off. Recently change the leads and thought that cured it but it hasn't. I'm now suspecting that it's a blocked injector or another fueling sensor type issue.

ive found what the issue is with mine i bit the bullet and changed the engine and when it was outchecked the engine numbers and it turned out to be a 1400cc so no wonder it wasnt runing right
