Hi guys
I have just bought my first Range Rover 2.5dse 1999 v reg
I had a trooper before and I was warned not to trade it in for the Range Rover. But I do love the ride and it looks nicer also

I would like to point out that I'm not a keyboard warrior and this is the only forum I have been on. So please forgive me if I ask stupid questions

Any way would any of you kind fellows help me with the following questions.

My Range Rover has puddle lights on the front doors only and I want to install them on the rear two doors also. And I would like to install the footwell lights in the front and back

I've seen the lights on eBay

So my question is
Will the Wiring loom be in the rear doors and under the dash
And where are the rear lights located

Thank you for your help in advance

Ian

On my 2000 there was puddle light wiring in the rear doors but no power to them! I traced it as far as I could but eventually gave up and wired them off the interior lights.

As for footwell lights I've never seen them in the rear. Must only be on the real posh ones.

There's a single light in the rear under the console isn't there? If you stick a brighter LED bulb in there it works wonders!

Hi guys I've just found the whole that the rear footwell light would be installed. But it looks like a different shape of light from the square puddle lights. But does anyone know if the wiring will be in place?

Yea. I never knew that there was a hole there. I've just stuck my finger in it but couldn't feel any wiring. The chuffin' automatic ashtray opened though!

I'll investigate further next year.

Thank you dogsbody.
I don't understand why just the front doors were fitted with lights and the front and rear footwell and rear puddle lights were left off?

Different trim levels for different price levels but it's cheaper to have one loom made in greater numbers.

Because one's chauffeur is expected to lay his coat down for his employer who rides in the back. Ergo, they are not needed !

You're not wrong... i just went outside to check.. mine's working fine.. and i never even noticed it there... i should have the Chauffeur drive more often !

That's funny. I agree they are not needed but my company car has the light package and it's very useful for the kids. So if I can install these lights easy I don't mind paying for them on eBay. I just can't find the light that goes in the rear of the console.

quite possibly ! but dont bet the farm on it.

By the way welcome to Range Rover ownership, its better than a Trooper !

Thank you yes it is better than a trooper. My friends tell me the trooper is more reliable and the rover will give me no end of problems. I bought the rover for off road as I keep bees and the boot is much better having one big flap than two doors

I've just ordered some bf good ridge tyers

i've done 30k in the blue P38, it let me down once.. the waterpump, mind you it was due for a change... I tow regularly, and as for being used as back up car it now serves as the main drive.. funny that.. it's like driving a V8 leather armchair.

The main thing with P38's is keeping ahead of them and they will be reliable. anything mechanical needs maintenance and parts replacing, if you keep an eye on it, maintain it properly and consider that things will need to be changed so get to them when they show signs of wear, not when they fail there's no reason it wont be reliable.

That's interesting to know
My rover has a full service history but I've just ordered a service kit for it
Pollen filters
Air filter
Oil filter
Fuel filter
And oil
I've also got a new set of wipers all round also

The air suspension works well and very quickly
The only fault I have is a message coming up saying (alarm fault) every time I put the key in
