Help! Engine gone bang

Hi All,
got a 62 plate Discovery 4 commercial 3.0sdv6 engine starts but knocks loudly, i suspect piston as when i take the oil filler cap off it puffs quite a bit (pressure build up).
I don't trust the recon engine adverts online as read some bad reviews unless anyone can recommend a good one.
Question is apart from the Discovery what other vehicles were these engines fitted to? I was told Jaguar XF but would need to change oil sump pan to fit.
Any advice appreciated.

Are those the engines that suffer from snapped cranks?

It's probably the crankshaft.

The S Type uses a 2.7L version of the same engine but XF uses the 3.0L.

Changing the sump is nothing, if your changing the engine.

My neighbour has just bought an RR Sport which I believe also uses that engine.

I'm sure the RRS used the 2.7L V6, then the 3.6L V8, but I'm not sure the 3.0L V6 was offered.

The 3.0L V6 D5 has it though.

Cheers, that should cheer him up. I did ask him if it was the V6 or V8 RRS and he didn't know

There is a scam garage offering recon engines. They're based in Wolverhampton but call themselves different names and state they're located elsewhere. Be very careful if you use a garage.

Most of the current L494 models have the 3.0L v6
