I think you got a jobsworth patrol there mate . As far as I am concerned if it has rent on the screen and isn't an obvious eBay motor or dodgy membership it gets atleast looked at . I'm not even sure he was within rights to refuse service as it was not on a off ride site or stuck half a mile of the road . Worth atleast ringing the members query line .

joined the aa paid £209 patrol came out, before he got out the van he told me they wouldnt touch me saying i`ve been offroading then got back in and drove off leaving me stranded freezing my ass off in an area i didnt no so much for the 4th emergency service ****ERS
rac recoverd my 90 about a year back when the clutch went we were at borden offroading,we towed it to the main road and then rang the rac,me 90 was coverd from top to toe in mud and they recoverd me..

ur lucky then all i had was splash marks over car guess he had a bad day fat lazy bastard well i`ll phone a few recovery companies tomorrow see if i can get it recovered and hopefully its still all in 1 piece

The car was actually in a car park just off a main road, as Steve says. I didn't think it was too mucky (on the outside anyway) and it must have been completely dark by the time the buggers actually turned up. I spose they might have spotted the tide mark though... :)

I really can't believe the AA refused to recover you Steve. It wasn't even mentioned when I broke my air spring last time I went out and mine was filthy then.

I assume that they will at least give you a refund on your aborted membership?

Guy

It's ridiculous that they won't recover a car they know has been off road. How do they know that a car hasn't been doing 150 down the motorway before they got there? It's the same principle.

as the vehicle was accessable what it had been doing or how dirty it is is irrelevant ,id be on to the aa demanding they recover or pay the bill for third party recovery.
i dont think anyone should be surprised if they refused to take a recovery vehicle off tarmac to reach a stranded vehicle though,

it was in a fooking car park, not exactly off road was it

demand your money back, they havent provided the service you paid for, i got the aa to take my car from plymouth to peterborough and it had a blown headgasket and 2 flat tyres, your car is atleast road worthy!!!!

Not sure where you are stuck on the plain Steve, but it might be worth ringing up the nearest Army LAD/REME detachment in tidworth (or nearest garrison town to where you are) to see if they would like to practice their recovery techniques - they are always keen to train hard/help in most situations and a small donation to help for heroes (or a slab of something) would go down a storm ;>) once U R on a nice dry Tank park you can get the AA to recover you!

the reason they would not recovery me was that i been offroading , i wasnt was on the byways , friend manage to tow me off the plains and to a layby about 8:30 at night was not happy . have demanded my money back but will take 3-4 days and logged a complaint will them thinking of going to the papers with it will see after i get car back and wot state its in

:doh:he's already in a car park

dont ask for youre membership fees back, by granting you membership they have a contract with you to recover your car. its best to get stuff in writing if possible, email them if possible, complain about the conduct of the aa person that attented, demand that they recover the vehicle,in a reasonable time frame, if they refuse tell them that you will arrange to get it recovered yourself and will then make a claim in the small claims court for the cost of recovery and any other costs incurred , whatever it cost to get home/fed on the day for starters , trips back to check its still in one piece etc.

my earlier comment about not expecting them to go off road was intended as a general observation... youve already said you wer towed out of the gloop.
