How much welding would it take to fit a Salisbury axle onto a Discovery 1 and are the brackets needed readily available or do they need fabricating at home?

When did the diff ratio change to 1:3.54? Can the ring and pinion be bought new in the correct ratio or do they need sourcing from a different Salisbury diff?

And finally, does anyone know how much can they possibly weigh (for shipping quote)?

A lot of questions for a project that probably doesn't even need doing.

Where are you and what are you actually trying to achieve here?

A Series axle (per your thread title) be it Rover or Salisbury type is narrower than axles fitted to any coil sprung Land Rover. So not suitable for a Disco 1.

A wider Salisbury was fitted to the One Ten and 127 however.
