HELP...HELLO FROM AUS AND HELP
im a 35yo aussie guy who just spent everything on a crappy 1.8 99 freelander, quit job, moved out of rental, put dog in freelander and was just about to start our 5800k drive to our new job and life when the day before leaving i drove my freelander on 35degree day for about half hour, parked it tried to start it and it turns over but dosent fire .. seems to have spark starter sounds weird but is cranking motor, the freebie 1.8 didnt overheat, didnt lose water, nothing unusual happened

How do you know it's got a spark?
If the starter has a problem it may be pulling so much current that what's left for the spark isn't enough.
When was it last serviced?

i did oil , plugs, filters, coolant the day i got it, also put a engine flush and rad flush in it before doing the service, i checked inside disy cap for corrosion,,, when i pulled out plugs earlier today after trying to start it they were soaked in fuel. ..
SORRY AND TO ANSWER QUESTION I PULLED PLUG OUT AND TAPED IT TO RAD SUPORT LAST NIGHT AND COULD SEE SPARK, it sounds like it tries to fire through intake if i let sit for five or so hrs but literaly only on first rotation of engine after that nothing,i have wound engine over by hand and dosnt feel like any knocks ect but also winds fairly easy

one last thing to check cam timing im lining balancer up with tdc mark (cant get it off) and two dots on cams line up each other, i top of motor case off at moment winding by hand checking if valves all move, im not a mechanic by any means im kinda guessing or trying to interpret wat i read... cheers

If starter sounds weird, do you think that could be problem, if the starter is drawing most of the cranking amps to make it turn, there are enough amps left in the system for the ignition circuit, hence another vehicle and jump leads in tandem might prove this.

THANKYOU
ILL TRY IT IN THE MORNING
CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THERES ANYTHING THAT COULD MAKE IT LOOSE COMPRESSION AFTER PARKING WITH NO WARNING... OR IF ANY AUSSIES HAVE A CHEAP USED ENGNE
