Hi people...

This feels a real departure for me, I'm noramllly active on BMW Zed forums but something has come up...the misses...and her birthday...

She fancies getting into off roading, in fact she's started to nag so I'd like get her an 'experiance' (soon rather than later) - you know the sort, 4x4 days, red letter etc...I've looked at a few and they seem a complete rip off - Any advice on any really good ones in the South East.

and What's the equivilent of a track day? If I get a old Landy can I expect to find clubs and trails all over the place...?

How many times has this question been posted...I try a search but not was sure what to look for...:)

Regards

Andy

They are quite expensive because you get a lot of people who don't know what there doing causing damage to vehicles, so they have to charge quite heavily most of the time, and supply a driver so your don't make mistakes... It all adds up.

If you bought a landy, then you could go green laning, join and club etc... but if its just a one off then you might aswell just pay for an offroad experience trip. Landrover themselves do a good one, not sure how far it is from you.

Oh, never thought about going direct...I'll give them a call. Thanks for the advise.

Yeah, our end game is to get another car as the z4 is a tad impractical...well, very...and we're both petrolheads so gettng a car that can be used for fun as well would be nice...

Are you able to get your Missus up to Woodlands (Brands Hatch) on Sunday? Thats where me and my m8 are going for a play, you'll be welcome to have a crack.

Just booked her into the Land Rover Experiance in Ashford. 1 day basic course. Hope she likes it...

Thanks for the links, had a look at that Surrey club site...tell me, is there any snobbery if you have a Landy or a Suzuki/anything else at these club events.

Hi,

Surrey off roaders used to be called Surrey Zuki, however now most of them have sold their Suzuki's and bought landy's, hence the new name Surrey off roaders.
And no there is no snobbery (at this club anyway) but there is obviously the odd bit of banter ;).

Scott.

Wow...great pics...looks like a lot of fun, as said in PM, I'd love to come along if you're doing this again in the future...:D

We both did the Ashford LR Experiance instructed by Stan (big thankyou to you if you read here!).

We had a fantastic day and I was blown away by the capabilities of both the new Disco and the defender. I loved the way the Disco was plug and play, select this button and drive over that thing...but I prefered the back to basics of the Defender.

I was straight onto e-bay and Autotrader looking......what to do?? I was planning on getting a BMW Z4M Roadster early next year but now I think I may just keep the one I've got a few years longer and get a LR to play around in...

And there I was thinking ffs if ever a thread was in need of a hijack!!! Where are the guys??? Wham!! out of left field with a Barbie barb!!

Awesome!!
