Well, everything is back in place now bar the plastic panels which we will do tomorrow. Any illusions/dellusions that getting the tank guards back on was going to be easy were quickly and brutally dispelled! Heat guards didn't wnt to play ball either, had to re[osition them because they were fouling the prop shaft.
Ended up cutting the top of one off the tank guards in order to be able to fit both back in, but 6 bolts instead of 8 will do. As to the rest we have waxoyl'd the cavities that had been stone chipped and put a protective coat over that where it was needed. Panels on and job finished for now. While I remember, new jacking point rubbers/plastic, IF you can find them they are from Germany or Lithuania at £27 a pop and an eye watering £24 postage! Exactly the same ones can be bought on Amazon for £11.07

they are listed as BMW 7 series but are exactly the same. Taking the Old girl for a blast in Buckinghamshire tomorrow and filled her up with 'special premuim' diesel.

Nice neat job, well done.

My s/c sills were okay but a previous parking graze left unattended to was the death for 12" of the seen wheel arch, easily rectified with a piece of fridge,

There used to be a fella on here (sadly missed @Tomcatalan) who always piped up about it being boron steel which you had to weld very carefulling,

of course we who possess a sledgehammer ignored him.

Well, beautification panels all back on with few problems, HOWEVER, while I was fastening the lower N/S side panel I noticed that the lower suspension ball joint is perished, only noticed it because it was on full lock! I am going to replace the complete lower control arm on both sides as it is cheaper than replacing just the rubbers when you factor in labour, we are going to try and do these at home.
