Hi,
The clutch on my Series 2a is very heavy. It works but is very hard to press pedal. If you have to hold pedal down your leg aches real quick. It makes it a tough drive...
Any ideas ...
Cheers

I grew up driving tractors, n I'm talking old tractors, long before I could drive cars but none had a clutch this heavy...

Hmm, the 2a box has a horribly complex clutch release mechanism in the bellhousing - could this be a bit sticky? I assume the pivoting bits need greasing once in a while.

OK - one easy way to check the mechanism is to open the bleed screw on the slave cylinder and give it a press. if the pedal goes down like nothing then the issue is not in the master or the tubing. If not, I would think that you need to check the pedal pivots, and try opening the hydraulic line before the flex.

I've seen flex hoses swell internally and go bad - dramatically restricting fluid flow.

You could have a pivot issue down at the slave cylinder, but as most of that mechanism runs internal to the transmission in an oil bath (barring the bbellcrank and shaft on the outside) I am not leaning toward that being an issue. One thing to check there however is the external support bushing for the bellcrank - ifthat's seized then it can make things difficult.
