I'm looking at ideas for getting / keeping my LR warm on shorter trips. Most of its use is around town and litte runs. I'm happy that the heater and insulation(camping mat) is ok on longer runs but its bloody freezing (was last winter) on the the regular runs;

I'm thinking, rad muff, heated seats but open to suggestions.

Dont really want to go down the Eberspacher (sp?) type heater route, due to costs and faf for now - maybe in years to come.

Cheers

I have the same problem - I'm looking at one of these;

NEW 12V AUTO FAN HEATER COOLER DEFROSTER DEMISTER CAR on eBay (end time 20-Oct-10 11:47:08 BST)

I don't know how much heat they will actually put out or more importantly how badly they will drain the battery (especially if the vehicle's only used on short trips) but it might be worth a punt, especially at that price...

Ive considered similar in the past, but heard nothing good about them - i.e, just about enough power to clear a palm sized hole on a frozed windscreen....

The other thing I have noticed is that some claim "extra power output" etc when other suggest that 150watts is the max any similar heater can or should produce...

Really dubious about them; but as you say for £15 its prob worth a punt.

Been looking at these too: eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

don't waste your money on that wee heater there rotten-i bought one and found it useless, only blows out heat about as warm as your breath and couldn't melt an ice cube .

How about heated jacket / gloves? I've got these for riding my motorbike through the winter, and I think the Caterham boys (etc) use them too.

I want to get an eberspacher but can't justify the cost at the moment.

The heater in that link would take forever to heat your landy. I have one of these. I could've sworn mine was 400w though.

NEW 12v 300w High Power PTC Ceramic In Cab Heater / Fan on eBay (end time 09-Oct-10 10:45:07 BST)

I have a full height wooden bulkhead behind the second row of seats in my 110. I've got my heater mounted at the top of said bulkhead and facing forward and slightly down. It took about 10 mins to fully defrost all the ice from the windows (including windscreen) on my landy during the cold and spells we've had over the last couple of years. With the ceramic heater on aswell as the landy heater it was sometimes getting too hot if I was driving for longer periods.

That looks a bit better... where would you mount one of these in a 110 CSW without your wooden bulkhead though?

Ive spotted these in the past; you think its worth a shout? Do you get much battery drain from it?

Also I'd be interested in any piccies of your bulkhead (wodden one). Ive a 110 CSW and have thought about this in the past to keep the dogs out of the way in the back.

Thanks

My one is made by a company called pacet (they are better known for making cooling fans similar to kenlow) I don't know if the one in the link I put up is made by pacet or not but it looks just like mine except for the colour of the switch. The plus side is that these fans also blow cold air in summer time.

I've got to empty the back of my landy out ready for going away so I'll try and get some pics up of hte bulkhead and fan in the next couple of days.
