hi all,
My heater in my defender 110 has stopped working on the most powerful setting but I still get some heat on screen and feet positions. Any ideas very welcome. I’ve looked at cable movement under bonnet on the heater unit and they are fine.

Brucie,

Check the wire connections to the heater box . After pressure washing the engine bay ,mine sometimes stops working when water has got in the connections.

Cheers

I ended up using a 12v feed from an aux fuse box, through a Carling switch, straight to the heater motor. Can’t remember the wire colours atm but my fan would occasionally fail to run through the original wiring / resistor block.
I had several faults from the fuse box connections (glass fuse type), resistor block and as it failed at the beginning of winter, I thought sod it and just retired it as stated above. I still think the motor is tired but if it gets through the winter, I will sort it all out in the warmer weather.

Thanks for all the help. So to clarify, the heater was working fine giving out hot and cold air. It still does this but setting 4 (lowest position on the stalk) cuts out all air ( hot and cold). Some comes out in the the other positions but it’s nit great tbh.

I think I have 4 settings. 2004 model . The Gale setting is the one not currently blowing a gale. So if it’s not running on full speed is it now a dead fan motor??
