Heater sliding switch not working. - 300TDI

It used to work on position 4 only - now not at all

seen a couple of threads, but not very informative.

I know how to take off the display panel (remove knobs and screws)

Can you then get to the switch?
is it just switch controlled?
is there a relay or relays? - which one?
Are there Load resistors? If so how many? Where is it/they ?

I can only see one load resistor in the engine bay - passenger side - is this it?

The resistor pack is screwed the passenger side of the heater box, and can be seen after dropping the glove box lid, according to the existing threads on this subject.

The resister in the engine bay is for dim-dip, if u mean the one by the washer bottle.

switch on my 300tdi had all burnt insides after getting very hot for some reason but after a clean up now works ok ish.....so yes you can get at them....easy once you've done it a few times..... :frusty:
