I've managed to replace them now, thanks to a very helpful dealer via ebay who I'd previously bought a decent steering wheel from. Some scroat/s decided they liked the look of my headlights, the nearside (only) indicator, and snipped off the headlight lighting connector from the offside!

This happened on the Sunday night/Monday morning of the recent bank holiday weekend. Good job I don't have to reply on it for work. I guess the thieves don't think about that sort of thing, as they're no doubt the type of scrounging scum that this country seems to churn out these days......

Anyway, nice to have a bit of a moan about it - just be aware there seems to be a spate of parts thefts at the moment guys & girls.

Get your landy secured NOW.:eek::eek:

They weren't after your headlight. They were after your landy but must've been disturbed.:mad::mad:

i agree, disco 1s especially 200tdi models, had certain security problems with the lights, dont want to spell it out if u know what i mean. im sure uve heard of the theory that if you turn the hazard light switch upside down on a vauxhall nova its puts ignition light on. simialr applies to the disco door locks

Yes, heard about that....mines a Disco 2 though. It did seem that they were definately after the particular items that went, not to take the whole vehicle though, with the parts that were stolen.

By the way, I'm in Oxfordshire. Just to make it clear, both headlights were stolen, along with drivers side indicator, and pass side headlight wiring connectors.

In which case you should be ok, It's likely they were just after the parts. If it were a fender (which is what I thought it was) I woulda been battoning down the hatches.

i used to work in a scrappers and the nova thing is true also if you short the washer bottle pump wires together on an xr3i and ground them to the chassis that put the ignition light on too theres loads of things like that out there id disconnect the central locking power feed and just use the locks manualy if its true or wire an airbag up to the colum somehow and hide the bag under the drivers seat to eject the little fookers through the roof
