Hi. All I just upgraded my headlights to those bulbs with ballasts (can't recall the name) and I wanted to know if I could get similar bulbs for the main beam and side lights as they are so yellow they look silly now

Hope you have headlamp washers fitted. Or you are illegal. Just take the HID conversion off and fit standard bulbs, which are very adequate. Then it won't look silly anymore.

Yea you can have a look on ebay
I just put them blue halogen in my full beam cos I only really use them for flashing anyway
How did you get around the high/low of the main beam?
I know a cheep fix if you need it

As far as i am concerned HID headlamps are a bloody menace and should be banned. Why anyone would fit them to a P38 is beyond me. The standard lamps are more than adequate.

some cars do have appalling headlights, I once had the misfortune of owning a citroen xantia, I had better lights on my push bike!
P38 lights are great, i use philips extreme bulbs, still at 55 and 60 watt its all you need to see properly.
The video, hes australian and probably needs to scare off the roos when hes driving about in the bush or whatever it is the colonials get upto

Would appear we have a few Kevin and his Corsa chav types owning P38s. Each to their own for some mods, but HID is bloody seriously dangerous on the roads and should be banned. Being blinded for several seconds by these bloody idiots is not uncommon. Someone will die because of them, if it has not happened already.

But but but...................... Image is all when boasting about your car.

I have HIDs on mine - I had to adjust the beams downwards as I think the bulbs must have had slightly different focal points to the standard H4s, once adjusted they are fine, I've not been flashed and standing 50 yards down the road at night with them on they look fine to me and my eyes are sensitive to bright lights, IMHO the light from the HIDs is much better at picking out cats eyes and white lines than the Osram Nightbreakers (or were they Phillips extreme? - can't remember now!) they replaced. My only criticism seems to be the change in light spectrum between dipped and high (because of the extra high beam lamps) takes half a second to get used to between switches.

All these people driving with poor night vision worries me. With normal night vision the standard lights are more than adequate.

What worries me more is the speed they are driving at to think they need extra illumination. P38 headlamps are more than is needed as standard, for any safe driving speed. If they can see further they go faster, a frightening prospect considering some of the numpties on our roads. Idiots flying around in Corsa's is bad enough, idiots flying around in a two and a quarter ton battering ram at speed, at night, on small country roads, with their enhanced vision, is a scary prospect.
