head lights?

Hi all,
This is a real newbie question, :confused2: Do the face lift model head lights fit the previous model, i've just got a 2002 reg and like the look of the face lift lights. Found some on ebay but need to know if they will fit first.

They will fit but only after some cutting modification to the body work.

as i understand it the face lift head lights (the ones with the lil round ones) are a higher wattage and the wiring has to be upgraded to cope with the extra current. i might be wrong but that is what i have read some where.
i was thinking of fitting them to my disco untill i found this out, its not just a case of sticking them in and switching them on so i thought fcuk it its not worth the hassle.

Just add a relay and new wiring direct from battery and use old wiring to switch the relay. Piece of **** then.

dont think i like the sound of having to cut the body work Discool! but if its just a wiring job that might not be too bad.

The facelift headlights fit but you need to cut out the front of the headlight boxes out. I have the instructions. The TD5 lights fit earlier models easier, but as yu have a 2002 model yu won't be interested in that.

its my 1st disco so i dont think i'll be cutting the body work about on this one so i'll scrap the idea but thanks for the info. might come in usefull at a later date.

Hiya mate, the quick answer is "no", the new style lights don't fit in as a straight swap.

There are a few people who advertise CD Roms and DIY guides on ebay, I did have a quick look but it looked way too complicated and fiddly!!, mind you I have hardly any mechanical "know-how" and there are probably loads of people who have done it quite easily!

As I said a few mods required to the bodywork have a look at this link on what you nead to do. Land Rover Owner :: View topic - Disco 2 facelift conversion

The main problem is the cost of the headlight, indicators and or trim. Depending on which headlight you are upgrading to. My understanding is that the td5 light is not the same as the disco3. The fitting is similar, but the d3 lights have indicators built in.
The car mod is an easy days work.

the bottom one is the td5 facelift headlight no idea what the top one is never seen it on a td5
