HDC, TC, and Service Engine Lights

Hi - I'm new to the forum but I'm having a problem. 2005 Freelander, 46,000 miles. Will be driving down the road when the hill descent light, traction control light, and service engine soon light come on and F4 fault flashes. I can wait a few minutes, turn it back on and everything is good . . . is this the same problem as you are describing or is it something different? If it is different, does any know what to do to fix it as my mechanic is stuck. Thanks.

Could be the brake light switch on the brake pedal. Does it change gear and drive ok other than slowing down?
