HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS ??? ??? ??? 300Tdi

Hello All,

When ever i hit a pothole or speed bump at abit of speed that makes the car jump and down then hazard warning lights come on and wont go off unless I turn off the ignition and start her up again????

Any ideas???

Sounds like something to do with the alarm system mate, I'm no expert on how they work but I have experienced this.
I got my 300 airbourne once and on the landing the hazards came on, mine wouldn't switch off at all until I took the alarm/central locking fuse out.

yep its the spider unit behind the dash below the radio mine does the same aswell the easiest way to reset it is turn ignition off and put the key in the door to lock and then unlock should reset then !!

There is a inertia sensor fitted that will prevent the doors centrally locking or if the doors are locked will unlock them in the event the vehicle the receives a sudden impact ie. in the event of an accident.
When the inertia switch operates, the hazard warning lamps flash, central locking is inhibited the indicators will flash for a minimum of 30 seconds or untill the system is reset turning the ignition on and off.

My vote is also on the inertia switch and it's wiring - sounds like an earth problem.

Actually you saying that once it has happend the central locking doesnt work and I have to start and stop the ignition so I can lock the car.

Any tips on checking the wirings? earthing? sensor?

Thats right central locking is inhibited untill you reset by switching on off the ignition the it will revert back to normal operation.

The inertia sensor is part of the alarm system ECU, therefore if your alarm system is functioning correctly then power/earth must be ok. It may be that the sensor has become a bit over sensitive.
