Hi Landyzoners,

I need a small bit of help from Hawkeye owners. I have a 2004 D2 Td5. Manual 7seater. When I plug in my Hawkeye and go in to the td5 engine diagnostics, I then run the circuit tests, injectors all fire ok, however when I try to run the CM test I get an error. Is this just me? What do other D2/Hawkeye owners get? My error is 'CM ROM Checksum Error'

Many thanks for any help

Joe.

Dont bother with it...maybe some time the ECM(engine ECU) was replaced or remapped and the data from it doesnt match the original one. That ECM data would show you just some figures like the ECM type, serial number, etc. nothing else...it's worthless...mine does the same but i'm sure i have a different ECU

yes but as i said that ECM data doesnt affect anything... you can program other compatible ECU to work on your car using hawkeye without probs but that ECM data might show you the same... that's not a problem, just dont bother with it

Thanks Sierrafery. I have an option on one but it is from a 2000 d2. Mine is a 2004. I seen a post you put here showing compatable ecu's, but neither mine nor the replacement one are listed. I have an NNN500250, On the sticker with the barcode. While another sticker on the top says NNW500330? The second sticker also has my VIN number on it too. The second one has a barcode sticker with MSB101181on it. I am getting the dreaded topside switch error so I think I'm ine ECM hell. Bad luck considering I only have the jeep a few months and the warranty has expired.

I think I have found my problem, the question now is what was it............has anybody got a photo of the inside of a NNN500250 ECU?

Locks like a burnt carbon film surface mount resistor- like the others with coloured bands

Dont call it a Jeep or you get slated.

If you bought it from a dealer then it should be covered under the Sale of Goods Act for 6 months if any problems arrise. The dealers will always try to get out of it so check with the citezens advice to see were you stand.

They will say you only have 2 or 3 months warranty and most people believe them as they never check. But the law says 6 months.
