Hi, can't comment on the tyres particularly (although they do look ok) but I have ordered from Mail Order 4x4 before (through their website) and found the service to be good and when I phoned them about something else they were helpful and knew their stuff.
 
I saw a shogun with those on the other day and they looked fairly good off road but I never used them so I can't say for sure. I don't think they look very aggressive personally.

i have 265, 75, 16 insa turbo Decker's on the disco and have been throw 4 diffs this year on hill climbs, so i was going to go for less aggressive this time on the 90 to save money in the long run (diffs&shafts) and so it would be better on the road.


but i might get some 265,75,16 special tracks now £360x4 or the 285/75X16 KUMHO KL71 Mud Terrain £469x4

I have 265/75/16 Kumho kl71's on me 110. Have had them on for a couple of years and have done about 10,000 miles on em and they look as good as new. The only problem I have found is supply.....I had to wait 18 mnths to get 2 spares.

Sorry, by this I mean the tread pattern is designed that it works in one direction, so they are not as good when reversing and you need to have two spares because one side will not fit on the other because it would be backwards.

Or, to put it another way:

"Directional (Unidirectional) Tread Patterns
A directional (also called a unidirectional) tread pattern is designed to roll in only one direction. It incorporates lateral grooves on both sides of the tire’s centerline that point in the same direction and result in v-shaped tread blocks. These grooves enhance hydroplaning resistance at high speeds by pumping water more efficiently through the tread pattern. Unless they are dismounted and remounted on their wheels to accommodate use on the other side of the vehicle, directional tires are to be used on one side of the vehicle and are intended to be rotated from the front axle to the rear axle. If different tire sizes are used on the front vs. rear axle, the tires become location-specific and prohibit tire rotation unless remounted."
 
If tyres are directional, then depending which way they are fitted on the rim determines which side of the vehicle you can mount them. This is fine but it means the spare will only be good for OS or NS, not both!
 
right... and whats the problem exactly?

reversing..? cant really see the problem there....

spare? get a different tyre with the same size but other thread pattern?
 
I got a set of KL's about 12 months ago

Not a bad tyre when new, I was pleased with them till the blocks started to wear and grip went off.

They do respond well when aired down, but don't think I'd go for them again due to them only having 2 ply sidewalls.

Don't worry about the directional thing, they seem to grip better in reverse
Tempted to run mine the other way but not sure how I would stand with the law :D .
 
i collect my new tyres tonight.... i have got myself a set of 4 Insa Turbo SPECIL TRACKS tyres. There size is 285/75/R16. They cost over £500 new, they have covered only about 50 miles in these tyres so they are still brand new. i got them for £400

i think iv got another bargain :D:p
