Eh!....a 10 year old L322 has to have the ugliest front end of any Range Rover!:D
Marmite - I love mine!

If you gave me your L322 tomorrow, it would be on Ebay at the weekend, with that and the P38 I could afford to buy a decent 4 x 4. In fact I would have a Dacia Duster in preference to an L322.

I can understand your frustration Datatek - but you'll be surprised to know some people actually drive P38s out of choice! :D

What tyre pressure are you running on the 20s then.

It will have a firmer ride than a 18 or 19s as there are more tyres!

That's because so many of you Brits are obsessed with image. Nobody would buy any Range rover based on an objective assessment of it's reliability. Most on here seem to buy because of the name, not because it's a good vehicle. As I have said before, I have mine because it was dirt cheap to buy and I could not afford anything better, to me the LR brand just means poor engineering.

I don't give a flying monkey ****e about image...

I don't wear designer clothes, I don't have the latest toys, I live in a small place, The only things I own with any value are my car, my watch and my computer....

I LOVE RANGE ROVERS - not because of the image, not because of the status symbol, not becasue of some misguided thought of keeping up with the Jones's......but because I have always loved the Land Rover brand since I was a kid, and I love the shape, look, ruggedness, technology and design of the Range Rover....

I wear worn out Cargo trousers to work, a white T-Shirt and an old company fleece (that was changed to a black sheel type one, but I hate it so I still wear my fleece I was issued with 10 years ago), a pair of safety boots, I rarely shave as I can't be arsed with it....my girlfriend cuts my hair with a set of hair trimmers.....

Image can go hang for all I care....but I LOVE RANGE ROVERS - yes they are unreliable, but I don't give a flying ****e, I have a Range Rover because I am a fan, and dyed in the wool Range Rover fanatic....

I own it for no other reason.....

+1 and well said young sir.

I have always loved the brand. As said previously , they have been my company car for decades and in that time I have looked longingly at the Series and the Defenders but had no need for a 4x4. Then I saw an L322 and to own one was my aim. I could've bought newer jap crap for the same money but it would've been bought by my head not my heart and driving would have been just something done to get from A to B. I bought the L322 with my heart and boy did my heart laugh when watching the jap crap struggle and fail to get up the hill to the horses, whilst the L322 took me up and back down without a single twitch. So you can keep your lumps of boring, ugly, jap crap, I'm sticking with my Range Rover!

Diesel watches and Range Rovers are all about image.
What kind of sanity is it that people buy brands in the face of all the evidence that they are crap? It's amazing how successful the brainwashing industry is, otherwise known as advertising.

Suppose there is elements of truth in there, but my watch i like the look of so i bought it, my L322 i love the look of so i bought it, not because of the name or what they are, i work really hard to be the best i can be and i am paid for that so i can do the things i like to do, buy the things i like to buy.

If my likes and your likes dont match that is life, they are my toys and i wanna play with them! You have you toys and i dont like MR2's but you do and that is your thing so i'll leave you to play on your side of the playground up to the swings and i'll have my side of the playground up to the roundabout, with the Jungle Gym being shared ground for those times when our interests coincide :D

I couldn't give a toss about image. I drove a Skoda Estelle for years despite earning a very health salary - because it had character and I loved it - the same reason I like Range Rovers - most Jap cars bore me senseless.

+1 you should see my wardrobe! :D

We are digressing a bit from the firm ride !

When you own one of these its not about the image its about commitment on keeping on top of it.

Like someone said owning a Rangy is a bloody hobby. Eats into your cash!

When I drive the rangy you can get commented on posh ****ers !! But Im not posh I just like the green badge !

Most posts on the L322 degrades into a slanging match.....harmless banter most of the time but it does digress from the purpose of the post!

The difficulty is deciding if we are buying because we like or because we have subliminally been conditioned to like by advertising. The human species does not seem to be the master of it's own thoughts.
As I get older, I look at the way things are going in the consumer society and despair at the waste, a new iPhone every few months, goods now being designed to last 3 or 4 years and so on.
I kept the MR2 because I thought it would become a classic worth something to pass on to my kids.:D
Personally I like to be bored by my car, the Hyundai did 100K kilometres with only a glowplug relay failure, didn't even need brake pads.
Likewise in 26 years the MR2 has had new window regulators and last year the alternator failed. In the P38 I wont leave home without the laptop and diagnostics, give me a boring Pajero or a Hyundai any day.
