Hi All.

I had a drive of a really nice L322 yesterday. All was well but I felt it had a bit of a hard ride.

As far as I could tell the suspension was working fine. Compressor cool and quiet. Air bags not looking warn.

Any ideas?

it was a 2005 4.4V8 with 20" wheels.

Hi Saint.

the 20" were specified as an option when new.
If that's all it is I could put some 18" on and have sus' recalibrated and good to go?

I'm surprised, I thought the L322 on non-bling wheels was supposed to ride better than a P38. I haven't driven one for a few years so I can't remember.

More car like so maybe can be considered harder than the P38...but not as harsh as Datatek is making out....I find it very comfortable, drove to West Yorks last year in it only stop was for LPG took 4.5 hours no issues and fresh as Daisy at the other end!

I don't think the P38 rides that well, I don't expect it to either with massive live axles chopping about. I normally drive Jags so the P38 feels harsh as it is!

The L322 seats are awfull:eek:
I have to agree the Jags ride better than a P38, not much beats a Jag in that department, my XJS was super smooth. But the P38 is the smoothest ride of the vehicles we have.

I found my P38 ride very harsh until i had the suspension properly calibrated.
Old airsprings, worn shocks tyres types/tyre pressures and incorrect ride heights can all affect the ride. Arnott GenII airsprings give a better ride than OEM in my opinion:)

my L322 rides lovely, on 19s. much better than any p38 i have driven. sounds as though you may have some worn bushes. and maybe a recalibration wouldnt go a miss.

I have to say, in my opinion the L322 handles better, less roll etc. However, i do find the P38 a less harsh ride & able to take the bumps easier....& the amount of speed bumps near me is unreal. My in-laws even commented on the p38 ride over the L322!!!;)
