Hi I want to hand paint my series 3 bright yellow, as I am going to do some serious off-roading I don`t want to spend a fortune on a respray but I still want it to look good so I am going to handpaint. I have been told that coach paint is the best paint to use but I cannot find any on the net. Anyone out there know any websites where I can get yellow coach paint or failing that anyone know of any good alternatives I can brush on that will give me a non hand painted finish?

I used DULUX gloss on mine, goes on a treat with a small roller, when you get bored with a colour a pressure washer removes all the paint, so you can start again.

One tin will do a SWB twice :D Cheap as chips I say

Big chap...I see you live in Frimley green is that why you don`t like Yellow! Sean, thanks for the site very interesting. Codbasher, my dad may even persuade me to go down that route yet, I remember painting his series 2a matt orange, we are a colourful family!!!

Yer cud try usin boat paint. You cun get tha in loads o diffrent colours an its hard wearing. Try a chandlers for some colour charts.

Jawel paints, all over the midlands, truckcoat polyplus, excellent paint, can brush on.

Think you'd be surprised what a turbine paint sprayer and the proper automotive paint would come to. Much more durable.. no harder than paint brush..

If you're sayin its gunna get bashed.. why bother anyway? Well thats up to you.

I could tell ya what to use to put automotive paint on it cheaply.. but not brush.\

Thing with aluminium is getting the paint to stick. Its a slippery metal.. it'll stick for a bit..then come off in sheets.
