Hand brake warning light

Bit of an odd one , I noticed the other day when I applied the hand brake the warning light on the dash did not come on ,it comes on when i start the car and goes out in a couple of seconds. I am not 100% sure but I think the warning light use to come on when hand brake applied. The hand brake itself works ok . Any ideas or is this normal. It's a 05 l322

The telltale light should illuminate when the handbrake is applied - check the handbrake switch and wiring thereto.

The light will come on as a bulb check when ignition on - then if the handbrake is on - it will stay on - if the handbrake is off - it will go off....but if the switch is dodgy or wiring thereto, it may think the handbrake is off and as such extinguish the light after the bulb check.
