H Reg Defender 200TDi???

Hi
Can somebody please help.
I've just seen a Defender on ebay that is an H reg and on his description it says it was registered on 1st August 1990. Does this mean it has a 200TDi or the old 2.5TD because I've searched on google and found a place saying only Defenders from September onwards had the 200TDi?
Is this correct?

could be either thats the year it changed over.

This is a 200tdi

This is the turbo diesel. Don't go on the year/month or day of the week...its a landy and could have anything under the bonnet...

Could be one of the following; a late TD, an early TDi or a TD that has had a TDi put in it. Visual identification is the best way to tell, apart from driving the bugger!

Here is the pic of the engine. But I need to know if a Defender being registered on the 1 August 1990 is meant to have or not meant to have a 200TDi. The pic maybe a 200TDi, but if this Defender is not meant to have it, it means I can't buy it because i'm only 23 and the insurance on an engine conversion is huge.

Surely you can cross check the details on the v5 and if they match then your insurance will be ok?? Although huge i'd imagine if you have no no claims...

just add a look at the pick it could and probibly is a retro fit 300

Yes my question is, is this the original engine. Because i've read the other day that only H reg Defenders registered September onwards have the 200TDi, so if this is from 1st August it shouldn't have the 200TDi.
