Here's the story. Looking for a 110 for tree surgery work. Will end up with tipper conversion if not already fitted.

Been looking at anything agewise really but would like to keep final budget below £10k. This would include probably £3k for the tipper conversion.

A couple of questions;

Ive noticed there doesnt seem to be any td5 hi caps around that are 3499kg gross, but plenty of tdi's.

Have I been looking in the wrong places, or is there a reason for this? I do need larger payload.

Got chance of a couple of good td5 hi caps but 3050kg gross, so is it possible to get them uprated?

Feel free to throw any comments in if you think its relevant:cool:

Cheers in advance, Pete.

Have ya thought of a 130" tipper they'give you more load space. and better carrying ability. Though I would have thought that you'd struggle to get a ton and half of timber into the back of a 110 tipper. unladen weight is 1997kg so load would be about a tonne. Depending oin weight of tipper conversion.

Yeh, the 130 is an option for sure, possibly not just the volume available but stuff such as the weight distribution. IE, the 130 rear axle is further back onder the loadbed and would carry better, as the 110 tippers have a tendancy to put weight behind the rear axle and therefore overload the axle before it reaches the GVW.

That said, the 130's are plated at 3500 standard but finding one at reasonable money without having 200k on the clock is a task for sure!

I dare say there's little difference between a 110 and 130 single cab kerb weights, but by the time a tipper is added, some kit(saws, ropes etc), a couple of blokes (and lunch, LOL!) it will be well over 2500 unladen, so that other 450kg would be very handy!
