Hello All.

It's been a few years (Over 5 i think) But i'm back, i had a Freelander fora total of 8 weeks before deciding it was awful and taking it back to the shop and demanding a refund. (after all the centre diff broke within a week of buying it)

Well, I do have a 4x4 again, But i dont think you guys will like it. (see attachment)

Purchased it off my father who owned it since new, Then put a Snorkel, Wheels and Tyres and a few other useful bits and pieces on it. 2005 2.5Litre TD Animal Edition with Electric Rear Diff Airlock, High and Low Range gearbox and Leather interior. It's not a landrover, But it's more than capable.

So what did i miss?

What did you miss? Only 5 years or so of slagging off lesser 4x4s than the land rover ;)

Have to admit I do likes it though in the pics you've got :)

It'll give you less grief than a landy:)

I wouldn't count on that , have fitted recon engines to 3 of these no4 main bearing going

have fitted a few second hand for the same problem

also gutsy on fuel

enjoy having a 4x4 again though :)....( till it breaks mwahhaahha:p )

My Pajero auto had 165K miles and averaged 28mpg, totally trouble free:D

Yeah the older ones detonate like pinless grenades! Especially as you SHOULD oil change every 4-9K miles depending on what oil you are using. fortunately this is a very low millage 2005 with FSH, a history i know and I've already stripped out the EGR. Only had one issue so far and that was a loose bottom pully that drilled through the engine casing. Everything else has been very simple.

I'll refrain from commenting on how it performs next to landrovers. I know better than to open that can of worms. New photo attached just to prove it's not a pavement prowler!

Service schedule on mine said oil change every 3K miles, filter every other oil change.

Not a lot of synthetic around when I had my Pajero, my Hyundai Galloper was basically the same motor, also 3 specified 3K changes also ultra reliable:)

All we have Milners Offroad now, They do full service kits for £60 odd pounds, Air, Oil and fuel filters + 7 liters of of 5W40 fully Synthetic oil. All you need to add is a Sump washer and your set :)

saying that, my truck gets oil changes every 3-5K anyway as i'm paranoid like that lol

I thought the animal ones had a ralliart chip that made em go boom?

First i've heard of it. Almost all of us on the L200Forum are running the Ralliart chip.

It's normally the EGR Valves that go bad, forcing heat and exhaust gasses into the Oil and coolant channels leading to Head Gasket Failure. removing and blanking this is a £12 and 30 minute job

I had the dealer fitted chip put on mine when i bought new in 2004, it went throughout 3 turbo's and 1 gear box in three years! (68,000 miles) I sold it and bought a defender :)

My mate bought one at the same time from the same dealer and didn't have it chipped, he still has his as a knock about site car and never had a problem with it!

Maybe yours was a Friday job? :(
