Grinding noise

Hello,
Hoping I was just imagining it but i think I heard a grinding noise coming from the car today, only seemed to happen once or twice when i was driving at around 30 mph turning right, wheel maybe turned 180 degrees clockwise? Have also found that when the car is at access height one of the rear brakes seems to be hanging qutie badly (possibly linked to noise)? Anyone have any experience of this?

How old is the car? If it's an early one has it had the front diff recall? If not don't drive it - it's about to explode!

It's a 52 plate, but the previous owner confirmed it had the recall done and with all relevant documentation to back that up - the noise sounded as if it was probably coming from the rear? Of course I could be wrong!

Brake pads worn out?

Nope almost brand new :/ the only thing at the back end that may be of relevance to anyone trying to work this out, is that at the last MOT there was an advisory for the offside rear suspension arm ball joint/bush to be replaced soon - cant remember whether upper/lower. If there was a lot of play in that could it cause some strange noises?

Went out for a 20 minute drive today to see if i could replicate the problem, only managed once, which was a 10mph right hand turn, fairly sharp. And I was wrong about sound coming from the back, definately from the front. Sounds like a metal on metal sound, may well be something to do with the brakes? Apart from that it drove fine. Just a bit disconcerting driving it because you're always trying to listen for little sounds that aren't right, bit annoying that you can't seem to relax!

Thats part of the fun of Range Rover ownership...!!!

I would also suspect brakes, whip the wheel off and have a quick check that there is plenty of meat on the pad, also check for stones caught up between pad and disc, check the disc for obvious scoring or damage.

I had a similar issue on a classic, grinding during LH turns, turned out to be the pads not seated correctly in the caliper, and they were moving about and binding against the disc.....yer never know!!!

It is indeed! I'll have a look at the weekend, won't be using again until then anyway. Thanks for the help
