Hi Everyone,

I was hoping someone could help me out.

I have a Freelander 2, TD4, HSE, 2007.

Recently an irritating thing has started to happen every morning when I start it up.

When I start the engine a loud intermittent beeping noise comes from all the speakers. It seems to be linked to the sat nav screen turning on and connecting because the sat nav screen flashes on and off whilst this is going on. Then when the sat nav screen finally connects the beeping stops. This normally takes about 2-3minutes every morning.

Any advice will be welcome.

Thanks.

It sounds like one of the many modules in the infotainment system isn't functioning correctly.

You could try a hard reset to see if there's a bit of random code upsetting the system.
If a hard reset doesn't work, the only way to tell what is going on is to have a diagnostic read of the infotainment system too see what codes are coming up.

Are you allowing the system check on the dash to complete before starting the engine?

Many thanks for your response.

Yes, I am allowing for the system check every morning.

Forgive my ignorance, how could I go about having doing a hard reset on the sat nav?

TIA!

A hard reset is performed by disconnecting the negative battery terminal then the positive battery terminal, and joining them together for a minute or so (the leads, not the battery terminals). This will dissipate any power stored in the modules, so they boot up afresh.

Things to note before doing a hard reset.
Make sure the key is removed from the docking bay, and is preferably kept in your pocket.
The windows will need calibration after the battery is reconnected, and possibly the sunroof too.
The trip counter will reset, as will any stored MPG figures.
The clock will also need resetting.

Hope this helps.

Not come across it myself but could it be struggling to read the satnav disk under the drivers seat? perhaps give it a wipe? remember center to outside not round the disk.
