Well thats the last time i'll have a defender again !! got up this morning to go to work , and some f*'ckers nicked my defender again 2 in 2 years and i'm still paying for the last one !!!!!
No pictures to post but its a Red defender 90 td5 reg;Y423 JFO, green roofed van,
black checker plate , lifted ,d44 exhaust side exit, side runners, nas lights & protectors, taken from the Thame area in oxfordshire , keep'em peeled i,m gutted!!. Police not really interested again just a crime number !!!.

will keep my eyes peeled as im not a million miles away, chances are though it will have changed appearance by now

I know that feeling mate. I had a series (that wasn't insured) stolen and then 18 months later an attempted theft on my 300tdi defender. They didn't get away with it but they severely damaged the drive train trying and then set light to the seats and dash to get rid of any prints. It ended up being a total loss.:mad::mad:

Morning , security was a massive steering lock ,and security posts (drop in the ground jobs), but the trouble is i was working on the house and had part of the fence removed for the concrete lorry to back in , so the post was no deterent!! so they caught
me off guard, as usuall other things on my mind and they were there that night!!, had reports of pikeys driving around in a transit pick up with high sides on it and a dolly in the back for towing, asking questions about motors in the nearby village of lewknor!! ,
trouble is the insurers are going to get jittery now if i have another defender !! i have had 3 landrovers and now 2 stolen in the last 19months! ,and the piglice dont think i'm
being targeted!!! my arse!! , its just a complete nightmare.

If you have the kit and know what you are doing they only take about 10 mins to get around the alarm and DRIVE em away.:eek::eek:

Fck 'em.
The longer the delay the more chance they have of you coming out and getting them to clear off!

ground anchors will be on order monday!!! , me mates sold me his old 90 to keep me
mobile , and its tax exempt as well !!! ,does any one want to run a book on how long i
can keep this one!!!.
The irony is the f*@king locks will be worth more than the 90!!!

Unfortunately Defenders are relatively high value and also relatively easy to steal, therefore they tend to be a target for thiefs who appear to be very well organised.
I am speaking from experience as I had my 1997 300TDi 100 stolen 4 weeks ago and after much agonising decided to replace it again. I heard that there was around 30 defenders stolen in the Halifax area over the Xmas period and some of them appear to have been winched onto low beds. Most likely broken up for parts (they are easy to dissasemble then put back together again .. so possibly parts shipped abroad)
Mybe trackers provide some solution, I see that you can buy some DIY GPS tracking systems on ebay now for under £100 (and the cost of a mobile SIM card), maybe I will try one of these out ... anyone else out there with any security recommendations for defenders, ??

if you do bite the bullet again (and believe me having had one nicked myself and now debating with myself whether to go again down the fendi route or go for a mitsubishi L200 - i d understand the reluctance) make sure you insured with NFU or some decent company who understands the uniqueness of each defender and who knows about the theft issue and who doesn't kick up about paying out.

I'm with NFU and they are really good, but now this is my 2nd defender thats been pinched i'm a tad nervous about response and what my premiums are going to be !!
like i said i have bought a mates 90 allready its just a cheap one but it will keep me mobile.
watch this space!!!!
