reet! i gots myself a full cb kit today, got a gutter mounted metul stick fer an aerial, should scratch the paint off where it earths itself? whats the best way ter mount it? any tips?

just wired my CB yesterday in my 300, found a nice big gromet behind the washer bottle (for the left hand drive version brake servo) so routed the cable through that and up the snork to me light bar.. quality!

Other end goes up inside the 'A' pillar trim over the headlining to the rig; mounted where the sunroof handle used to go!

nevergonna open the sunroof again... thats asking for trouble!

pretty chuffed at a neat installation

good stuff, i can see mine going on the roof personally, where did you take your power from? this deos have the ciggy lighter plug on it just a red and black.

are there many people who actually still use them? - assumed the mobile phone had made them redundant

cb is now free though, plus if yer out on excursions then it came in really handy when we had lost each other of just wanted to take the **** outta yer mate when in convoy.
cheers for that red, you talking about an interior light to take the power from?

No they're great for green laning as you can stop the full group before they get into trouble or if you lose the back marker he can shout for you all to stop till he catches up. especially useful on the tarmac sections if the group gets broken up by traffic.

Aye most peeps lose the interior light as it's no use once the CB goes in there and route all the wires thru the hole left by the removal of the light.

behind the interior light there is a ground plate, wiggle the plate out and you'll see an earth point with an 8mm nut
drop out the alarm volumiser to get to it.. or a mini ratchet with a UJ ...take your ground from there...

there are two purple wires going to the interior light, take your live off the fatter one!
I cut mine and soldered it in then used heat shrink ( I dont trust those scotch blocks!)

with the interior light removed, i used a stiff cable to poke through to the 'A' pillar behind the headlining then taped the coax to it and pulled it back... then soldered on a new SMA plug

it's now perminantly live but i can pull the plug outa the back of the rig to cut the power to it

I left the inline fuse but cut the ciggy plug off the wires and soldered them in.

I was able to drill a hole just big enough to get the wires and inline fuse through if i removed the plastic from the fuse cover and fed just the contacts through...

will post yer some piccies later...

also to tell the back marker if the gate was open or closed

i know!!!! - the live is permanent - but the interior light is switched via the ground! - so dont use the light earth wire.

I can just see yu - connect it all up - door open, chatting to mates - no prob - shut door and drive orf and it all goes dead - every time you go to look at it (with door open) it works fine.

and dont furget it is a PERMANENT live - so if you leave it on - it will flatten yo battery.

Aye that as well.:D and to tell the newbie in his td5 shiny 90 that he's about to get some scratches heheheheh

we nicknamed it three windows lane... as all three disco's in our party popped the rear ofside window on the same branch! we all had CB's but no one said a word...
