Hi. If only the glove box light is not working the problem is not the fuse cos all the dash switch's and aircon unit lights are on the same fuse with it.

The headlight switch has to be turned on for the glovebox light to illuminate.
Ok, so much like the D1 then, for the glove box to illuminate when the lid is opened the lighting switch has to be turned to the first position which is side lights, as we all know its because it picks up its supply from the left hand side light 12v supply.

But the D2 glove box lamp shares a permanent fuse supply with dash switch illumination for example.

Well folks after weeks and weeks of trying to work out the issue I was having with my instrument cluster illumination blowing Fuse 3 it turned out to be the glove box light was knocking against the metal recess in which it’s situated as one side of the cover had a broken lug.

Well done for your persistence!!!
did you try taking the GB bulb out as part of your investigations?
How did you discover it?

Thanks , no I was cleaning out the car and when I opened the glove box I noticed the light was hanging loose a bit went to pop it back in and ping it blew the fuse

I am totally rubbish at looking at wiring diagrams but I bet that bulb would have been there to find had you looked. Please don't take this as a criticism, all those on here who know me know how much I hate electronix.
But it isn't intuitive to link dashboard lights necessarily with one in the glove box.
A mate of mine had terrible problems with his Disco, much later than mine. The batt kept going flat etc. Until he discovered it was something to do with the accessory plug in the boot.
"electrickery" well-named!!!

Well done, some times the bleedin' obvious just evades you as I can vouch for when mine blew the HRW fuse every time I used it (all my own fault as I'd trapped the HRW wire when I changed the tailgate door hinges last year:oops:) ! It to took a bit of tracking down.

Just so frustrating and tone consuming Bud. As you started it’s so bloody obvious sometimes. Strange 3 fuse does even relate to the glove box light etc.
