Hi All,

I took my glove box out about a year ago when I was originally trying to get the diagnostic socket to work.

I couldn't get it back in at the time, but didn't worry about it because I had to do the blend motors.

I've finally got around to doing the blends, and am now trying to put it back together - failing badly!!

I can it it all in, but it just won't latch up. Its almost as if the catches aren't going far enough into the holes to catch. I've tried adjusting it as per rave, as well as trying to pad the catches with tape, and moving them away from the box lid with washers.

I know its going to be something really stupid, and I can't believe something which should be so simple is causing so much hassle!!

Any ideas what might be causing it, and how to fix? It's the last thing I have on the list to do :(

Cheers
marc

You have put the hinges at the bottom onto the dash surround correctly...I can't explain it how it goes to gether, but it is not as obvious as it first looks....really can't explain it, as I has to think about it for a few minutes when I took mine out!

Cheers :)

Do they go on the outside of the glove box surround, or between the surround and the bar they attach to?

It's a PITA, took me about an hour to get mine back on properly have to keep tightening and loosening the four hinge bolts in turn on the bottom (trial and error) and i still have a slight gap on the right side even though it latches correctly. I gave up trying in the end. I latched correctly with the bolts lose, but they were too lose and when you tightened them it pulled it back down again. I suspect something in the adjusters or the frame is out.

I wondered about something being out. Or if I've managed to bend the hinges while its been out. Gonna have to keep playing with it then

The last time I did this I remember something about the strip along the top of the body. Sorry, old man's memory but I tightened the mounting bolts straight in when they should have been be locked on nuts to hold the strip away from the body so that the lid would meet up with it.

Best I can do at the moment - sorry.

I had similar problem with mine when i took it out putting back in was nightmare but got there in the end , i might be wrong but seem to remember leaving the bottom fixing screws loose and think there was some adjustment on them, then tightened after getting it right, don't know if this helps but good luck keep going you will get there in the end.:(
