While she's in getting her new bulkhead fitted I decided to get a full respray at the same time with new wings and doors all round.

First stage is the strip and prep.

Any cosolation but mine looked like that in green. Got it back last night after 2 months

I have been going through this myself but I've bought all the tools and paint and done it myself and I'm nearly there just the bumpers sliders etc to paint black. Really happy with it you should give it ago yourself.

+1 'tis a bit cold at the mo though :(

Yeah you are not wrong I've been lucky to have mine in a marquee and one of those industrial gas blower heaters so nice and warm.

Yeah, even if I had a heater I haven't even got room for it where I'm spraying :(
Got brothers to do while it's in bits but at about 5degrees in the shed I'm not so sure how it'll come out.

Oving the big tent on the drive I unfortunately had no time an fortunately a bit of cash

This is what I done mine in 12m X 3m gazebo (£50 ebay) lucky I've got the space on my farm really.

you shouldn't paint in the cold as it can screw the finish up, gas heater on for a bit won't solve it.

Aye, but when you're an impatient c*nt like me, I've got to try
Mainly because I want to do it before it goes back together, but at 5-6degrees I'm rather concerned.
Coldest I've done it before is 10ish, which came out good.
Worst case is I do one panel, it looks ****'e and I have to do it again when it's warmer.

Did you just paint over your lights?

Looks good though!

The only thing I have had to paint in the cold was the bonnet and has come out great as I had a small heater on during the night to cure the paint everything else was done whilst it was warm.

What sort of paint did you use? some paint will actually be fine done in the cold. I once wanted to tidy up my bonnet so painted it outside one December morning just to get it sorted until the proper respray I was going to do that summer, that did very well for years in the end before I eventually did the respray a couple of years ago - when sanding it down it took a hell of a lot of effort to get it off.

A friend of mine owns an industrial coatings business and some of the paints he uses he will paint in whatever the ambient temperature is, others he has the booth cooking right enough but it all depends and the humidity is probably the bigger problem as it clean lead to poor adhesion.

I'm using 2k too, Bought all the stuff, just need it a little warmer so I can at least got the bulkhead and rear tub done.
