Ah, yes, I'd forgot about that.
But yes it is really easy to use, don't know why I didn't give it a go years ago. Yours looks like it came out good too

Yeah really happy with it just got to do the new extended arches and all the other bits black snorkel sliders bumper etc then I'm all done. So thanks for all the advice was a great help.

He's gotten the rest of the panel beating and sanding done and has now got the final layer of primer on. Wings also look nice

2K is what I used. It is pretty easy to use, as with any paint, you need to prep well, VERY well. mix it carefully and use standard painting techniques, if you have never painted before paint some random things white to practise, years ago I painted bins and garden furniture and things to practise. I love this paint, if it was safer I would keep tins of black/white/grey in stock for spray painting things up all the time.

This paint, health wise, is scary stuff, its a factor why many paint shops won't suggest it to the DIYer.

Some people have been known just to fall over after breathing this stuff in.

I've resprayed my 90 using it and a GOOD mask, I wore goggles too as the isocyanides can enter in via your eyes too.

I read up a lot on it and decided if I did it once in my life I should be fine, but it's not exactly healthy stuff. I usually painted a panel or two (had the 90 in pieces) then would open the roller shutter full and stand outside until the paint fumes all blew away. I could never smell the paint when wearing my mask which meant that it was doing a good job at filtering out the toxic gases. I had an organic compound filter on, dust filter and a carbon filter too.

It's good stuff though. For best results mix with proper 2K thinners to suit the temperature, if you want a really high gloss finish and are good you can use lots of thinners and lots of coats to make a glass like finish.

Yeah I've used it and it's brilliant, as said you really need to cover every part of your body as it goes through skin and eyes etc. I've just painted my axle with the stuff this afternoon. I really need to get a new mask cos my proper one has completely clogged up so I've ended up using a bog standard mask today. Not ideal 😞

Oh go take a photo please, I just bought a fully reconditioned (well I think the hubs are original) axle and it's paint is fine, but it's just the thin stuff that chips easily, I was tempted to mask it from the chrome balls inwards and blast the lot with black 2K. Was yours stripped or did you paint it built?

Still need to fit and paint the hubs, casing was quite badly pitted but after the final coat (not pictured) it looks ok. I've stripped, blasted and fitted a good diff and new stub axles.

Looks fantastic mate, I wish I had the room to spray mine!

I had only planned to use 2k the once, but now in the process or painting a third 90.
Fair to say I should buy a decent mask at some point, and probably not do it in shorts and t-shirt (when the weather suits that is)
Love the stuff, much better than celly that I'd used in the past.

just to also add about the risks with 2k paints...there is a real risk with using them at home. Even occasional use is harmful, isocyanides are able to pass through even very good filters, airfed is safest. But also consider people in the area who will not be wearing a filter mask. I'm a Tech Service Rep for a paint company and have seen the effects of people not respecting their own safety all too often.

I guess all to often people don't realise the consequences until it's to late.
I really can't say anything mind, because I'm the same, but then I'm a pillock and not really fussed.
I've been told you can get 2k rated masks now, but they're only rated for a certain number of hours.
That's what I need, it's just actually going and getting one.

I use an air fed mask running from a second compressor. I also keep this compressor in an adjoining room of the shed so the fumes arnt just getting sucked through the compressor and into my mask

But no, really, I haven't got much room for one compressor, never mind two.
