hi ppl this is prob a simple question but im a bit green how do i tell what gear box i have fitted to disco 300tdi 1994 thanks

Hi, it's simple... if u have a clutch pedal is manual if u dont then it's automatic :D:D:D

without jokes, it's not so simple...e.g. for '94 manual i think it's LT77, but there are more types...u have to search according to VIN and engine code

If its 300 it'll be r380, with reverse under 5th gear gate.

The number can be found drivers side on a flat plate under the filler plug, so you can determine the model type.

It will be a bugger to read but sometimes a smear of grease helps to make it out!

bran new on this lads, av gorra defender 90 tdi 1987 {E}
I was on the beach a couple of days ago an whilst goin up some slight incline in 2nd gear, it forced me in2 1st then this struggled which i thought was really unusual ?
i decided to use the diff, hoping this wud helf but as i hit the gas it just seemed 2 be staying in nutral, i transfared to the normal gear put it in first an let clutch slip an lanny wouldn`t stall ? After a while tryin we decided 2 push it an park it up.
I ran a mechanic up the next day an he seems 2 think the clutch hasn`t gone.
he took the rubber deal from the diff gearstick an got underneath, i could move it side to side an see thye pin moving with the arms attached sliding in2 the gearbox, but nothing seems 2 be happning, he advised me to see a landrover specialst.
can any1 help, wud be appriciated ?

Even a Land Rover specialist will struggle big time to understand you, if you talk the way you type!
Good luck:doh:
