yet every single garage I have been to has only got GL5 in stock. I hear this stuff is bad for yellow metals.

also out of 5 garages, they have all insisted that having 15w40 in the gearbox is fine, and probably better for the syncromeshes  one of these places is a very reputable place that does a lot of stuff with tractors, I find it hard to disbelieve them.

so what is the story with this?

Maybe they should stick with tractors then. Buy a gallon or 10 of EP90 GL4 and do it yourself. 15W40 in a gearbox doesnt sound right to me at all, esp. as it's not a monograde oil...

so what is the story with this?

Cheers

ok, I thought it would be better to do what the manual says. anyway does anyone know if salisbury diffs have yellow metals in them? also rover diffs?

im asking as I have a large unopened container of ep90 gl5 stuff knocking around in the shed. I nearly used it for the gearbox, but decided to search the gl5 part of it and found it was not the right stuff

seems its OK for diffs then  but gl4 seems impossible to get in this town :doh::doh:

might have to do some more searching. I hate to see how many people wreck vehicles just from plain ignorance. these days I google and ask questions before doing anything I am not completely sure about

Dunno, but I've found GL4 before I've found the first petrol station when I was in Haslemere to buy me series. Couldnt run the engine on it tho as it was a petrol back then...

Might be different down under if your location is correct

out of 5 places I don't think a single one knew what gl4 was. let alone had ever heard of it.

and I checked all the petrol stations too.

this country is overrun with japanese cars. a few european ones but most are bmw's

smaller motor factor places seem to be a good bet, there are a few that stock it around the midlands and have seen in in halfrauds as well! but only seem to do 1l bottles.

Look at his location and tell him where to find the the next halfrauds!
I've found it easily, but then it was a parts dealer who had LR parts in stock...
