hello my friend has just purchased an x military series 3 pick up.
we are currently carrying out all the main pre m.o.t checks, but the problem that we require helpfull advice with is.

:)

the old girl starts up instantly with the first turn of the key, as long as the choke is out. after a few muinites ticking over we push in the choke, this results in the engine sounding like it is struggling to run with the required fuel needed, engine stall

it has had a new carb, air filter cleaned it did have alot of oil in the bottom. we know that the outcome will be emission faliure what else can we do

You're probably pushing the chock in to soon.
Try leaving it out a bit longer, and/or pushing it in professionally.

Is the fuel change-over switch in the right position? It might've been knocked by someone's foot and be halfway between the 2 tanks, giving you not enough fuel into the pipes. Worth checking that first. :)

ey oop gareth, where ya bin

Ow do Yella! I've been playing with the Mog, looking after my girls, cleaning-up after the cat and Heidi has been working hard fetching and carrying stuff all year. She's now got the MAG mount back where it belongs, so she looks more like she did when she was a soldier. Some piccies are on Heidi's Web page, but I haven't had much time to update it due to interacting with the humans a bit more than I used to ;)

Thanks for your help folks, i've been twindling about with the carb this afternoon and managed to sort it. i think it was getting too much fuel, hence the black smoke.

Black Smoke? What Black Smoke? Only giving half the symptoms doesn't help the diagnoses.
