Out in Landy World must be a person with the ability to delete the " Water in Fuel code" by circumventing the signal to the CPU. I started by fitting a new filter, zilch! disconnected wire, same, to replace sensor / bracket, $280 / $330, want to sell it after having a front bush replaced cost $500, L R dealer replaces the whole bit, when asked, was to fiddly and dangerous to the mechanic to press out the damaged one and might not be fitted to original specs. Does this sort of crap exist in the UK? Starting to agree with Christian of YouTube L R show, that it's time to [my god] to buy a Toyota.

What they probably mean is they do not have the correct tools to push the bush in and out, so just replace the arm as you'll be paying for it!

In my experience, if there's an issue with being able to push the bush out, then the extra labour charge equals or exceeds the cost of the replacement part, which of course will be rust free and brand new.
Who changes the bushes in a D3/4 wishbone? Nobody, they just replace them.

Bloke at my place changed his d3 lower arm bushes, surprised me as well.

I would hazard a guess the shame of freelander ownership is beneath them:D

Having owned the FL1, FL2 and D3, I can say that the D3 is nicer vehicle to drive, however it's very much more expensive to maintain, and always gives that worry of crank failure.
The FL1 is the cheapest vehicle to own, costing little more than a normal car. The FL2 is somewhere between the D3 and FL1 to maintain, but is a much better vehicle than the FL1.
I'd rather have any Freelander over an Evoque however. ;)

I am bit of a snob and love the sound of a 6cyl diesel, 4 cyls always sound so harsh especially in anything posh, lr/auid/bmw/merc etc.

Tbh I dont see many d3 or fl1/2 down here, they are about I guess, just I dont see them, certainly none in the works car park.

Maybe if you say exactly what modell, year and engine is your "Defender 4" as i can't find any diagram for that also what's the exact fault code

hi mate

Plus 1 with regards to the defender 4 title as also never heard of that , indeed as u say fault code will also help

Dont know if this is the vehicle the OP is talking about , quote - Have just purchased a 2012 LR4 HSE . 170000K with the 3lt engine.

if that’s the case I’m pretty sure if no water has been found in the fuel , sensor/ wiring checked and code won’t clear the entire filter assembly and sensor has to be replaced

plus 1 to that , think I paid under £100 for a complete bush kit and £150 for a pair of rear upper arms including bolts ,

So pleased I never attempted to just change the bushes seeing it took me hours and hours to just get the old arms off, of course understand the OP is talking about the fronts but regardless is very rare to hear of anyone just changing individual bushes seeing all the others are the same age on the same axle and imagine they won’t be far behind in requiring replacement

see $500 Aus works out around £278 sterling so not bad if that also includes 4 x wheel alignment

fuel filter and sensor $330 = £183 UK, here it’s around £120 , know u can buy just the water in fuel sensor for around £50.00 seeing the OP has replaced just the filter,

ps, best money I spent with these bush kits

I have the same kit, only used it once to change the rear top knuckle bush, that one job meant it paid for itself compared to garage rates.

Plus 1 as funny enough I was getting quotes around 1k to supply and fit new rear upper wishbones , whilst working there I replaced the 3 pipes/ hoses that were on each side

reminds me got to get some new calliper’s as mine are sticking on the near side front and back so might as well change all x 4

The cheapo britpart calipers have been on my car front and rear for over 6 years now (Iirc island4x4 were the best price at the time) might be nearer 8 years with no issues, so dont get sucked into that must buy named stuff.

As your car stands a lot it is always worth trying to free them up, wheel off and inner pad out, pump piston out roughly half way, then using a fine needle and syringe inject a few drops of brake fluid right through the top of the piston gaiter so it will land on the piston as close to the seal as possible, then slowly push piston back in and pump out a few times and see how you go.
Has got me out of the poo a few times over the years.

bless u for that and indeed did look at the Brit parts as I remember u mentioning it before , indeed a great price as came out around 220 for all four corners , funny enough I did also see this which I thought was good value for money , plus no hardship getting the discs off, the rears I’ll just disdomount the shoes with the software so they don’t move as I swap the discs over , just thought it’s an extra 150 quid so at least then all the brakes will be sorted, plse see what u think at that kit

that’s awesome as never thought doing that , have some syringes that I use for my vape kit measuring out the fluid as I make my own now, saving a fortune making it a litre at a time

waiting for the warmer weather and I’ll more than likely do the fronts one day and the rears another day , simply can’t do all four wheels in a day anymore , alas just takes it out of me

won’t bother with genuine Land Rover callipers as I think there £250 per corner, another one is TRW which I think is also a good price

will definitely try that trick , thks a million as always
