It's Alive lol, I have found it. Right if you have a Nanocom Evolution. DO NOT CHANGE THE SETTING " LATE TO EARLY EDC, even though your car has the early engine, It could be on the change years and they put in a later engine ECM in. Which will work providing it is in sync with the BECM. According to sources. What a relief. Holiday's still possible.

Ah, yes, think I changed that once on Wammers adice. :)

Mine's a '95 and IIRC I changed it to Early EDC. Nothing. So switched it back and we were back to normal. Makes me wonder how early you have to be to be to be early!

Why did you do that? :D

Every day is a learning day.

I got the feeling his BECM had thrown a little hissy-fit.

One thing all must realise is when they get a Nanocom and start playing they can do a lot of damage if they don't know how to use it. If something ain't broke don't play with it. Never ever change anything unless you make a note of what you have done. Forget what you did and what screen you did it on and you can get in deep shit. I got one of the evaluation ones before they where released to the public and i still change things with caution and notes. I don't use it everyday so tend to forget things, caution is the best policy.

It is weird the car was running great, it was only when I got to WiFi hell at the tip. So many wifi signals it seemed to play up. Should I go back there or just fly tip the stuff. (joking). I took Wammers advice after last year. It was the only thing changed, but as the engine seemed to run better. I thought all was well. Rick gave me a print out of the settings, I will double check them as well. I have a log book for any changes etc in the box with the nanocom. So should be easy to double check next time. Still strange it ran well and is a early engine.:D

But mine ran well and after a long period between the nanocom and using it. It started, ran better. then as I have said, went French (on strike). Perhaps rick put in french components and we all know they go on strike about this time every year.

French means BECM going into lockout. Sounds like Rick has been at it if it recovered from that without an expert at it. And yes, sounds like the cause was wifi hell at the tip, not a phrase I normally come across!

French language and incorrect date Etc mean BECM is in an alarmed state. It can be recovered by inputting the EKA code. But if the EKA code has become garbled and is not accepted, and the BECM is locked, a special and very expensive software module and an MSV2 are needed to unlock it before the settings can be recovered.

Lucky this year the BeCM is still unlocked, Rick must have sorted that last year. I stay away from the page on the Nanocom as well, lol. But EKA code tried that at the time, accepted, but the late EDC setting is wierd. Why does it do that, thought the setting would be more likely to not work with a early engine. Anyway another experience.

It has nothing to do with the engine that is the same to all intents and purposes, it's about the ECM. And how it controls the injection pump and interfaces with the BECM.The vast majority of P38s if not all will be late EDC. If the BECM is unlocked you may struggle to communicate with the HEVAC in diagnostic mode. Whatever you do if you want the BECM unlocked DO NOT select lock on BECM lock/unlock screen this cannot be reversed with Nanocom. Yes I know about the BeCM lock and lucky, mine was undone. I am not so worried about the Hevac. I thought the ECM was like that.
