:mil12: Gav, you gonna do what?

i'm gonna put an engine preheater on the rangey, it uses petrol to heat the coolant so

a, i can start on gas immediately without fear of freezing the vapouriser.
b, have a toasty warm car in winter time! helps with the works car park grand prix
c, help to save the engine from cold start wear thus improving ecomomy and saving the planet
d, gives me something to feck around with.

just want to know how to go about fuelling the damn thing.

apparently it uses 200ml of petrol for 20 mins operation. thats got to be less than 3 miles running of petrol!!

OOPS! sorry Gav, thought it was you that was feelen the cold.

it is a webasto that ive aquired, you seem like you have information to impart(that means tell)

A Webasto that runs on petrol? I've seen and fitted a few Webasto heaters but they all ran on diesel. You learn something new every day:)

A Petrol Webasto sounds almost as dangerous as a Rangie on LPG, soon you will be driving a mobile firebomb, but as you claim to be a muslim perhaps thats the intention:eek::eek:

that claim wasnt entirely true!!!

if you live your life without pushing the boundary then diesel is probably fine as a fuel!!!

WEBASTO THERMO TOP E / C PETROL WATER HEATER BURNER on eBay (end time 05-Nov-09 17:46:18 GMT)

the type of fuel is irrelevant really, and it shouldn't be anymore dangerous than the petrol flying round the engine or the lpg thats there too!!!

all i need now is some kind of hydrogen reactor to make driving a real 'seat of pants' experience!!

unfortunately theres no wiring kit or pumps with it, which isnt a problem as the water pumps are the same for other vehicles, audi's etc. and hopefully i can find a petrol pump, i'm not sure how the fuel is metered yet so i'm not sure if it needs to me the original solenoid pump.

and i'm sure i know a few fellas that can go to the webasto site and have a look at the wiring/fitting instructions and tell me how to do it!!!

then i gotta route the exhaust, with silencer.

its all fun!!

yes gav i know a little about them. what sort of timer are you going to use? i could get you a number where you may be able to get one cheepish if it of any use to you

certainly is, they are very similar to boilers really so i'm not vexxed by the install, just the wiring, which doesnt look hard and the fuel, wher to get fuel line in. can it be t'd from the normal line or will i have to put a stand pipe in???

its just that you will need a timer to turn on off, and you may be better getting a proper one. out of psv or hgv, big scrapy in barnsly if you need number i can get it for you.

will it be a 12 v from a wagon or 24v?? the timers aint cheap are they from the webasto dealers!!!

i was also looking at the gsm key its basically a gate opener that you can call or text to open the gate or activate whatever device you want, thing is its 169 quid!!!

for now tho i'll just use a timer as i work set hours each week except for overtime but thats usually planned beforehand!
