Hi everyone had the aa man out to a non starter,he reckons fuel cut off solenoid knackered, he over rode it with a direct line from battery,purchased new one fitted,no joy,would not even start,even when rewired,to over ride,put knackered one back in,direct to battery,starts,runs with ignition switched off till you pull the plug at battery,any advise,please Regards Tony..

what make was the replacement solenoid? Britpart?
 
If it runs with the solenoid directly feeded it means that the solenoid doesnt get power on his original place doesn't it.......check with a multimeter the solenoid's feed on it's normal position...if it doesnt get power so i'd say it's an electrical or management issue.....what kind of disco is it, maybe i have the diagram.
 
Now I may be a bit green,here,but yes it was a brit part,part,disco is a 2.5 1995 reg aa guy reckons its a peugoet engine also found out today if you wiggle the key it fires up,now is it the ignition barrel or the plastic lecky bit at the end of the barrel,Regards Tony,,

ignition switch (plastic leccy bit)

That wouldn't explain why it wouldn't start after running a live feed direct from the battery to the solenoid though.
