Me again. Just a quick one need to replace my front propshaft my mate had a look and said it was worn apparently its got new Ujs on but when they replaced them they didnt change the prop and the old ones when broken had worn it down

Okay first question he said when i get the shaft make sure i get the whole thing including the little end bit (what is he talking bout/what is it called)

second question any one got a part number for the prop and end thing(be a great help but if not just the name of the end thing and i can search)

Oh and by the way it a 110CSW 1993 200tdi hope that helps.

Thanks Tyr

Everyone is at work.

What little end bits?

Call up craddocks and tell them what you have and what you want - they are usually pretty good! Its probably going to be a FRC8390, but don't quote me on that.

Seems a bit odd. There are three wearing parts. The UJs at each end and the splines which allow it to extend/compress as the axle goes up and down.

If your friend reckons that the splines are worn, and that the whole shaft should have been replaced, he might be right, but who knows when the splines actually wore out?

Grip the shaft either side of the spline joint and see if you can detect any play.

My guess about the "little end bit" would be either the shorter shaft (when the splines are apart) or the two flanges. I don't think he's been very helpful with his description.

I'd recommend that you get a set of 4 bolts/nuts for the axle end and 4 new nuts for the box end.

Thanks mate i think he was reffering to the shorter shaft like you say ill try what you suggested and see what i come up with

so when i order a shaft does it come with the short shaft or sepratly

If you buy one it will be complete and ready to fit. Basically if it's the uj's that are ****ed just replace them. If it's the sliding joint replace the whole propshaft.
