another question, lol right then my front diff on my p38 4ltr v8 2001 plate is shot, are they a 2 pin also will a 1999 p38 v8 diff fit, or can i put a rear 4pin on the front??? help

The 99 should fit, the concensus is that the fronts are 2 pin but with LR who knows? Question is what caused the front diff to fail? Have you checked the VCU? A seized VCU is the usual cause.

If it's a Thor V8 with four wheel traction control then it should have a four pin front diff, however lots of 4.0s were leftover bitzas, the Thor 4.6s will all have 4 pin front diffs. A two pin diff will physically fit, but if you use it in slippery conditions and it has front TC then you will probably break it pretty quickly.

ya just found one on utube mate, they say it can naff the rear diff more, but i hav known people changing front diffs on p38, common problem i think

Don't believe them. If VCU is seized it will always do front diff first, because of extra stress applied to it by rotational differences when steering.

right i have just jackt up one front wheel, out of gear, and i just put a bar on it i can turn it but it is really stiff????? dus that sound ok

my car is 11 year old dun 98 tho and prob neva had a diff oil change, i dont think that helps. i am still not sure about this 2 pin 4 pin, dont no how to find out wich 1 i need, been looking on google and all say different tings.

You can fit either but the 4 pin is a stronger unit if you ever intend on spinning your wheels up or lifting wheels under power go for the 4 pin.

If you have a 4 pin I'd be very interested in giving you some beer tokens for you naffed diff as I may have a use for it dependingw on how nagged it is. Failing tha if it's a 2 pin I may also had a use for the gears possibly depending on how much you want for it.

ya no prob mate, will sort some thing out when i get a find another one. i am still not sure about this 2 pin 4 pin as i have just phoned highranger near derby and they said they r all 2 pin at the front 4 in the back, he said they dont do them in the front? i get different stories of different people. lol

I thought fronts were all 2 pin or more correctly single pin commonly called 2 pin. 4.6 has 4 pin in the back axle bit not had too much to do with them tbh
