Just finished downloading the photos from our trip (got back last night) and selecting the best ones that recorded our trip. No trip report yet, but there should be one on the website within the next week along with more photos. So here are (predominantly landy) photos from our trip :D

Last of the photos i promise ;)

Photos from the road up Mt. Sommelier (sp?) 3000m at the lake, very windy with a permenant Glacier. tight tight hairpins, needing 2 shunts on most bends... in a 90!

Others are of the mountain passes and finally our last 2 days in Annecy taking a boat out and hireing a tandem, all good fun :)

They're brilliant. nice one.

Certainly looks like a trip to remember .. we've done Monaco and Monte Carlo, on a main holiday, and would love to do the area again in a Landy .. ;)

Cool! Pictures are fab. Welcome back. Can't wait to read report - last one was great. Will have to try writing one meself following our not so successful summer trip following in your footsteps to Morocco (we made 4 nights as foot passengers in the end - gotta laugh - hahahahahahaha - sign of madness). Hope your trip was good and as well organised and successful as ever (no - not, not, not being sarcastic cos ours didn't go so well) Any plans for next year?

Hi Cassie, I hope you managed to claw some enjoyment back from your trip in the end. I take it your back now. A report would be good for those also needing mechanical assistance in the regions you got stuck, It could turn out to be a more comical read, depending on your writing style/skills. Not that your situation was comical, but looking back, like you say all you can do is laugh. I have to say, Im no good with these things and surprised you enjoyed the Moroc report. I thought it was lengthy and on a par with Tom Sheperd's style of "Quiet for a Tuesday" (still not finished it). Going to try a new approach for this one, get my girlfriend to write a few sections for a different point of view.

This trip was reasonably well set out, not as much as Morocco due to, in part, it still being Europe. Not all trouble free though, after a short stop on the M4 at the services we got 5 miles down the road to a loud rumbling (propshaft, has to be propshaft) turns out all the wheel nuts on the front n/s were undone! does anyone think someone undid them? never had a problem with them and all others were rock solid. coincidently the locking nut was still secure. who would do it though?! I dunno, still baffled.

No plans for next year yet, work is crappy at the moment, so I may not have the funds. Tunisia is appealing along with Norway/Nordkapp but both big budget trips. we will see.

I hope you still have some enthusiasm left for another small trip somewhere even if its only Wales.

That could have been nasty.

no kidding. I just dont understand how they can all work loose like that. In one corner. that was the last wheel i took off, but that was back in June and i have covered over 3000 miles since then. hmmmmmm....

looks awesom
,and looking at the pics no matter how good a camera one has is never justifys the scale of scenery in a photo. as for the wheel nuts my mom drove all the way from johannesburg to cape town(1600km) with a rattle like yours and then asked for advice only when she got back....
glad you had a great trip
john

Good Job, that looks like a great trip.

As for your wheel falling off, I guess you will never really know for sure, but falling off 5 miles after a motorway stop after having previously done 3000 miles does sound like sabotage.

I had a wheel fall off on the motorway a few weeks ago, and that was within 100 miles of the last wheel change where I may have not tightened up the bolts properly  I now own a torque wrench and a couple sticks of lock tite...

Brilliant Pics Griff.

I never realised our fair continent held such stunning beauty (not being a well seasoned traveller).

Cassie, I read about some of your trip and I can only say that I feel for you. after the amound of preparation that you did I just hope that in retrospect there were some highs to bring back home along with the lows.

Ryder - loads and loads of highs. Lows - inconvenience of an 8 week window instead of 1-year. We had a ball despite the problems but still need to write our report up about the trip rather than just the vehicle side. Vehicle has been duly kicked a few times but then kissed and smiled at - bit like being in a relationship!
G - your report done yet?
