Freelander 1 freelander td4

Hi, Hope someone can help me, the rear window on my td4 will not go up when you shut door and also door open warning light on dash is on.
I do not know if it is connected but when door open light is on rear wipers will not work, if door open light is of they work?

Can you lower them by the buttons near the handbrake? If yes, the mechanism works you might need to 'reset' by a long press

Can you lower them by the buttons near the handbrake? If yes, the mechanism works you might need to 'reset' by a long press. Otherwise the mechanism is damaged - a common fault to fl1 - repair kits are available.

The window won't close, if the CCU sees it open, which it will do if the interior lights are on.
It sounds like the door closed sensor has failed. It's inside the lock assembly on the tail door.

This is a simple failure of the door closed and open switch which is part of the latch.

CCU thinks door is open. Window raise is inhibited when door is open. Wiper and heated window are inhibited when window is down.

Just order a replacement latch and have it handy, it's very unlikely you'll be able to fix it.
I've changed a couple and you only want to go there once.

Indeed, the catch and the microswitch are riveted together. Repair would be difficult and probs not worthwhile.

Had the same problem.
I took the latch out and flushed it with Brake cleaner and WD. Works a treat now.
