Hi
Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions on where to start with this...
My 04 TD4 freelander struggles at low revs. Sometimes it dies as soon as you've started it, but starts again ok next time.
My driveway is on a slope and to get it to reverse up it I have to give the accelarator some welly otherwise again it stalls.
Once the turbo is kicking in driving it picks up fine but just tempermental at idle or just above (e.g. parking, pulling out of junctions etc)
It's been like this for ages (about 2 years) but does seem to be getting worse to the point it's now annoying me and there's been a few hair raising moments when it's cut out when pulling out on to a busy road.
I'd have liked to have pulled a small trailer with it (which, I think should be within it's capabilities) but tried once and it couldnt cope and just kept cutting out.
It's had a new fuel pump and a new turbo within the last year.
any suggestions appreciated!

Which fuel pump was replaced? I think we had a similar thread here a few weeks back and it was the high pressure fuel pump was the cause.

Probably best wait for someone who knows what they're talking about to respond cause I'm rubbish with diesels but I think the other guy was able to fix his with a seal kit.

Ah, sorry don't mean to derail this - what is the sensor at the front top left that plumbs into that large black intake pipe (the one that always chaffs on the screw behind)?

I'm guessing you have a facelift model.
Mine doesn't have that sensor. I believe it's linked to the turbo pressure, but im unsure. Someone with a newer one will comment.

You mean this one???

In answer to the original OP's question.
First I would clean the MAP sensor. This is the one I removed from my car uncleaned.
It is supposed to have hole down the centre, they get clogged up and mine was doing similar things to yours until I replaced it with a clean one.
