Hi All.

I bought my FreeLander 3dr Sport Premium because it was going for a song and was fully loaded with every possible extra, leather seats, sound system, parking sensors, heated front screen - the lot.

Naturally the downfall of this machine is its low ground clearance, even compared to the normal freebie.

So having thought about it... is there any suspension kits that, without spending massive amounts of money modifying other components, could be fitted to the Sport to give it normal or even better than normal ground clearance?

I'm thinking i'll end up with quite an awsome little 3dr off-road buggy!

Cheers,

You could try the spacers that fit on top of the struts, cheapest i've seen these for is around £200 inc the camber pins to correct ur wheel camber.

This is the option i'll be taking once i've finished spending money fixing bits and peices on it lol.

Aye he's right. Doobreys got a photo of his lifted playin in the snow a few posts back i think. Tis a pretty nice motor.
Could it be this one.......

Depends on what your using it for....

If just for occasional greenlanes/off road then best/cheapest option will be to get hols of a cheap set of steel wheels and stick some 215/80/15s on and just keep them for when you need...

Lift kits available from about 100 quid ...dont bother with camber correction

Get hold of suspension from standard freelander and fit that....straight swap..

Lots more ...depends on what your using it for

I remember reading somewhere that on the sports KONI adjustables were used, not sure if these would take the standard coils. May be wrong though. In fact i'm probably wrong. I'm definately going with the spacer option when i get round to it myself.

Unless... i can find some nice red coils that will lift my struts. That'd look proper mint.

So using a 'lift kit' for a 30 mm dropped sport freelander or normal ride height version, means you ditch the original shocks and springs?

Thus meaning a sport freelander with a lift kit is the same raised height as a non sport with a lift kit?

Just want to check!

Depends how you want to do it, you could probably purchase the standard struts and coils for the non sport freelander and swap them over to give normal ride height, or you could fit the spacers on top of your current sport struts to give normal ride height. It's roughly the same price to do either... the spacers being only slightly cheaper depending on where you can source them.

you gotta remove struts to fit a lift kit so not much difference in job......plenty of used standard suspension available new or used.....not as many sport available used so normally sell at bertter price.....if you do job yorself with used parts you should end up quids in

No, as far as I know the lift is gained by fitting spacers between the top mounts and body so you wouldn't normally touch the springs etc.
So if you started 30mm lower than standard you would still be 30mm lower after lifting.
