:)My key fob is completely worn and not functioning on my 2000 Freelander. Immobiliser is on and I cannot disarm so am stranded! Any suggestions anyone? Thanks in advance!

The fob is not the immobiliser just the alarm although the CCU also releases the immobilisation ECU when the alarm is unset. The immobiliser is in the key head itself and uses no batteries. If this system fails I am not aware of any way to bypass it (would be pointless if you could).

If the problem is the alarm system and you have a dead fob try unlocking the car with the key, relock it and superlock it with the key by turning the key to lock in quick succession and then unlock it with the key.

On some cars if the alarm is set with the fob the imobiliser signal from the alarm will only release if the fob is used to unset it, I don't know if this is the case with Landrover. If you unlock the car with a key and reset the alarm again with the key the next time you use the key to unset the alarm it will also release the immobiliser. This was an anti-lockpicker trick as it means you have to do it 4 times to unset the alarm. It will still depend on the key transponder to work.

Hi,

Thanks for this. I did try it but no joy. Have since had the key replaced and am mobile again, if a little bit poorer!

Thanks for the great tips.
I tried them and none worked this time but I have a learned a lot of things I didn't know before.
Brought it to the Landrover Dealer and got a new fob. Everything seems to be OK now.

Thanks again.
